Lying Leg raises are an excellent exercise that primarily works the lower abs, which are difficult to isolate.
You don’t need any specialist equipment, and they can be performed virtually anywhere.
Major Muscles Targeted: Abdominals (lower)
Other Muscles Used: Hip flexors
You can also perform this exercise on a bench. Other lower abdominal exercises include:
- Knee extensions
- Reverse crunch
- Hanging leg raises
- Seated leg crunch
Do’s and Do Not’s
DO keep your back firmly against the floor. Do not arch your back.
DO remember to breathe during the exercise.
DO NOT throw your legs up or roll your hips up so that your butt and lower back come off the floor. This will engage your hip muscles more.
DO NOT involve your upper body during the exercise.
DO NOT cross your feet over at the ankles.
