Bodybuilding is the latest and biggest sport/fitness craze to sweep the world.
Its popularity has steadily grown over time and especially during the last fifty years.
No longer is it seen as a male only dominated sport. It now appeals to both men and women. Teenagers are also being encouraged to participate, as the ability to achieve a good looking physique naturally appeals to them. There are even organized competitions between schools.
Bodybuilding competitions are extraordinarily hard to compete in, as there are now so many different people vying for the titles offered. But the one thing these competitions all have in common, is the fact that they allow both men and women alike the opportunity to display their hard work, and dedication to their bodies, to the entire world.
How To Start Bodybuilding
If you are only just beginning to consider getting into bodybuilding, there are a few things that you should do first. The first thing is to talk to your doctor to ensure that you are healthy enough to begin a bodybuilding routine.
This is especially true for women, as extreme workouts will have a much different effect on the woman’s body than they will a man’s. Women who begin rigorous workout routines often experience issues with their menstrual cycles; and younger women may experience problems with normal development, including infertility.
Another thing to consider is whether or not you will want to be entering any bodybuilding competitions, or if you merely want the health benefits that bodybuilding can provide. If you want to start competing, you will need to find out if there are any gyms in your local area that offer training for those who want to enter into bodybuilding competitions.
Even if competing isn’t your style, if you are only just starting to get into bodybuilding and looking to build muscle definition, it is important that you acquire the services of fitness trainer.
You don’t necessarily have to keep a trainer forever, but when you are first starting, it is important that you have a professional show you the proper way to perform each type of exercise, as well as to help you when you are lifting weights.
If you don’t hire a personal trainer or there is not anyone qualified in your local gym, you should seek out someone who is already very experienced and has been practicing bodybuilding for some time.
This is because they can show you how to do the exercises correctly and safely and help you with your lifting technique.
Bodybuilding is a great way to keep fit and gain a great physique! Your local gym is probably the best place to go to speak with one of their fitness instructors. They will give you lots of advice and may even provide you will a personalized bodybuilding workout routine.

So often I have seen builders hurt themselves because they don’t spend the time to stretch out their muscles when they work out. I’ve found that switching it up and trying something new, instead of focusing on the same exercises is a great way to still build strength. PIlates and yoga not only are the spiritual being, (although it’s great for relaxation) but are really good for toning, stretching, and core strengthening, too. Look at all the football players that do it.
When I was first starting out with weight lifting about a year ago, I was very fortunate to have a friend give me tips and advice on the correct form – but I also gained valuable coaching from two trained bodybuilding coaches at our local gym facilities.
This was helpful for me to learn about doing the moves correctly. And each of my mentors helped by showing me new and different workout routines.
More recently I started to get more serious about making some muscle gains. I’ve found that a correct diet for bodybuilding is harder to do than a correct weight regime – and in some aspects, a good bodybuilding diet can be more important than an extra workout in the Gym!
After I hit 40 years old, Bodybuilding has become my new sport – and I feel great!
